Next topic: Should Abstinence Only Education Be Allowed?
There is a huge debate about lowering or raising the drinking age. I personally think it should be 21. What do you think? What is it where you live? ( Edited by webdesign )

Apparently back in the olden days, anyone on active duty could drink on base regardless of age, but that rule was changed in the 80's - http://usmilitary.about.com/od/justicelawlegislation/a/drinkingage.htm In general though, I tend to agree with michelle_3_16. Things that are 'forbidden fruit' during our youth tend to be abused by many at some point.
maybe in the military they can....it comes down to responsibility really. wine @ 13 is common in many places etc. this is a tough debate.
If a person is permitted to join the military at the age of 17, and potentially die for their country, we should probably allow them to drink a beer before doing so.
I think if people got to drink legally growing up then maybe they wouldn't be so into drinking. Kind of like how drinking in Italy is accepted for 16 and up... also its 19 in Ontario which is alright compared to the states who have to wait till their 21 I dont really think its practical to change the driving age to 18 as some kids go to university and college at 17 and if they cant drive their then what can they do..
The driving age should also be changed to 18.
