Karl Marx isn't reall economist, for of a social theorist preaching about cultural revolution kinda like Mao. I don't see why people always pit economics at wit with culture read a few books and it's pretty clear that economics and culture can co-exist just fine. Hegemony exists out of a universal want to be able to communicate with as many as possible.
