Jeff Koons "Puppy"

This piece was first presented on the occasion of Documenta in 1992, curated by Jan Hoet. When asked who would be in the show, Hoet had no answer, but added, "Jeff Koons will not be". Koons quickly responded by developing "Puppy". Located in a village outside Kassel, Koons took over the courtyard of a beautiful castle and constructed his work. Covered in flowers it touched on beauty in art. In making the castle into a dog house he also sent a clear message to Hoet that, come on I'm just a playful puppy that just wants to play around in art. Like all great artwork it must be cared for, (watered), cherished and loved. But don't worry "Puppy" now has a new home, he lives in New England with friends that love, care for, and support him. If only all great art could find such a home. ( Edited by DAGGY)
