De Niro is noted for his method acting and portrayals of conflicted, troubled characters - as well as gangsters - and for his enduring collaboration with director Martin Scorsese. He is best-known for his roles as the young Vito Corleone in The Godfather Part II; cabbie Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver; boxer Jake LaMotta in Raging Bull; mobster Jimmy Conway in Goodfellas; casino owner Sam "Ace" Rothstein in Casino; Al Capone in The Untouchables; revenge seeking ex-con Max Cady in Cape Fear; Noodles in Once Upon a Time in America; Michael Vronsky in The Deer Hunter and more recently as Jack Byrnes in Meet the Parents.
