Description:
I find that subtitled films always require a different level of investment, and when I'm tired, that sometimes seems too much. That being said, The Sea Inside left me wondering why I waited so long to watch this film. It's a beautiful story, filled with complex topics deliberated over in a fashion that makes them highly engaging. Javier Bardem is brilliant, and makes you believe that he's in a league of his own. I found it even more powerful when I learned that the film was based on reality: the life of Ramón Sampedro, and his 28 year battle for the right to end his own life.
