Too old for most of you to have seen anything first run, I bet, but an amazing decade for the cinema. Some say the best. ( Edited by srlong )

It seems that most of my references to 60s film have some kind of Dustin Hoffman connection. This one's great--the bus scene is often referenced, so it's nice to see where that came from. Meanwhile, I like the comment about "plastics". Plus, awesome soundtrack of classic Simon & Garfunkel tracks.

The original and still the best for Alfred Hitchcock.

Really a cold, lonely movie. Amazing acting, and it's easy to understand why these two actors have become so well regarded. The theme song plays for too long, but afterward you'll find it forever etched into your mind as part of that movie.

I spent a lot of time pulling up foreign and older films when I was single. Recently though, I find I'm getting lazy about doing so. By the time we're done with work and getting our son to bed, we tend to watch long-running television that don’t take as much of an “investment” each time (i.e. Sopranos, Californication, Dexter).

I find that with older movies you just have to work a bit more to get past how different mannerisms and dialogue in cinema were then. It's a little like watching "The Spanish Prisoner". For the first twenty minutes I wanted to stop as I just couldn't get past the stilted dialogue. Once I did, however, I found it to be one of my favorite movies. (In fact I really should check if I've added that to the "Best movies of all time" topic already.)

I know what you mean! It cuts both ways, tho' - I was born in '61, so I didn't see many of these the first time around, but there were great film classes in college with free screenings every night, so I kind of caught up. On the other hand, there are plenty of items and even topics on MakeFive that I am too old to appreciate or even understand!

I managed to come up with a few additions to the list. That being said, it is fun to find something like this that I'm "too young" to properly comment on. What a nice feeling for a change!
