I can thank Drum & Bass again for my love of hip-hop. In high school (pre-D&B), I was a total rocker; Hip-hop just sounded dumb. Because Drum & Bass parties always have a freestyling MC to complement the DJ, I became more comfortable with lyrics + rhythm. And once I realized that American rappers are WAY better than the majority of other artists, I went back and found my favorites: Biggie, Jay-Z, Warren G, etc. Oddly enough, they were already planted in my consciousness from songs I had heard at school dances & movies. I just didn't know I liked them.
