It was my 2nd girlfriend in college that introduced me to jazz. I had heard a little broken-beat stuff and acid-jazz tunes from my D&B explorations, but she showed me the greats: Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Ray Charles, The Ink Spots. I was opened up to a beautiful new genre and found a few gems of my own too, like KOOP & Jamie Cullum. I hate that all my genres are tied to drum & bass in one way or another, but after listening to jazz and going back to D&B, I really did start to pick up on the similarities. It's a zen thing. Sort of.
