The Office is a Golden Globe, Emmy and Peabody Award-winning American television sitcom airing on National Broadcasting Company (NBC) and developed by Greg Daniels. It is an American adaptation of the BBC series with the same name. Unlike many American sitcoms, The Office is shot in a single-camera setup, without a studio audience or a laugh track, and is made in the form of a documentary, or "mockumentary". It depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Although fictional and scripted, the show takes the form of a documentary, with the presence of the camera openly acknowledged.

The Office was adapted for American audiences by executive producer Greg Daniels, a veteran writer for Saturday Night Live, King of the Hill and The Simpsons. Original series creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who wrote "The Convict" episode, have production credits.

This is my kind of shows, where you can actually think that this is actually happening somewhere in the world, the characters seem so real that it's just hard not to love this. Amazing show, it really deserves the first spot on this thread.

Sadly enough, Dunder-Mifflin actually does resemble a typical office. Since I don't work in one anymore, I can watch the show and laugh without thinking "I WORK THERE." Also, Andy Bernard is a spot-on representation of a lame Cornell dude.

The British version may be the original but I think our version is a lot funnier. Dwight, Michael, Jim, Pam and everyone else help make me look forward to every Thursday.

One of the funniest shows on TV, without a doubt. Dwight, Michael and Jim are some of the best characters on TV at the moment.

I didn't know Greg Daniels was a former writer for those shows. Good to know.
