Americans celebrate the holiday by wearing green clothing. Many people, regardless of ethnic background, wear green-colored clothing and items. Traditionally, those who are caught not wearing green are pinched. ( Edited by plmiller)

As kids in school, some teachers would give us a little prize for wearing green on St Patrick's Day...maybe because we were keeping up with current events...who knows. Now, I just like the color green and don't mind wearing it any day of the year.
