This is the beach at Clark Island, one of the more exposed islands in the west of the group. This side is protected, but less than 100 m around to the left of this photo, the Pacific swell looms. This is a beautiful site.

The Nuchatlitz area off the west coast of Vancouver Island is a haven for sea otters, an endangered species. A number of small islands at the mouth of Nuchatlitz Inlet protect paddlers from the ocean swell, but give the chance to peek into the full-on Pacific Ocean dynamic.This is an awesome place to paddle.
