Sure, acronyms make our lives easier (ex. WTF)...sometimes. But I've found plenty of examples where you just have to wonder what the hell some of these organizations were thinking. Most of these are recognized by the UN. Add as you please. ( Edited by NotableXception )

Let's stick to one acronym at a time huh? An ampersand just does not belong here.
More than a mouthful. Who really uses this? Wouldn't it be a little simpler just to say the name?
The irony here is, only someone on drugs could remember this one...the rule is: keep the consonants to less than three succession.
This just seems like a body with conflicted agendas.
Ok, granted, you have to have an adolescent sense of humor to appreciate this and if only "rear" were spelled "reer" this would be perfectly ironic, but you've got to see the humor in an acronym that, phonetically anyway, sounds like a dirty, emasculating sex act for an organization set up to research ways to stimulate the economies of depressed regions.
I'm sure the "community" appreciates how much their empowerment is worth.
Subtract the "E" and you have something funny. Lesson one in marketing: Put your name out there in such a way that people will take notice.
