Nolan Ryan would throw a sweeping, confusing curveball and a blazing 100 mph fastball, during his career. It is no wonder he is the all-time leader in strikeouts (5,714) and no hitters (seven). Ryan has collected 11 k-titles. In addition, Nolan Ryan is the DHL Hometown Heroes list for two teams (Houston Astros and Texas Rangers). No other player has been voted the best player for two teams' history, not even Babe Ruth. It's also no surprise that Nolan Ryan is a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame (he got inducted in 1999).

I had a hard time choosing the #2 best pitcher of all-time. In my opinion, I had to choose between Nolan Ryan and Sandy Koufax. Then, I decided to look at the facts. Nolan Ryan has 324 wins in his career, Sandy Koufax has only 165 wins throughout his career. Nolan Ryan threw seven no-hitters in his career (first all-time), while Sandy Koufax only threw four. And plus, Ryan has struckout 5,714 batters in his career. Nobody in the majors has fanned over 5,000 batters in a career, but him. But Ryan pitched for more seasons than Koufax had pitched. Anyway, comparing their stats, I finally decided that Nolan Ryan was the second best pitcher of all-time.
