Features that you'd like to see on MakeFive

this could be a "submit to moderators" thing, but basically allows people who have typos or mistakes to edit within the first few minutes and/or submit an edit request. Maybe a feature across the whole system where theres a "fix a typo" option that users can self-correct with moderators.

so that people dont have to click into an item description to go to a link that the item has (good for "best website" type topics)

so, instead of just Popular, it could be Popular Today, Popular This Week, Popular This Month,Popular All time. That way the "best tv shows" one doesnt always show up front.

Tell us what you think....

A lot of the items you've all noted have been addressed in today's update to the site. Given, not everything has been fixed/improved, but I think you'll be happy to see how much has! :-)

i still hate the idea of a daily topic add limit, but maybe a "breaking in" time, like, "you can only add 3 topics, until your karma level reaches a certain level" etc...

How about a version 2 of a topic? like, Best Movies 2007, version 2 is 2008? Or, for this topic, once items are added, they can be "legacy" topics? I'm not sure how to explain the idea, just a way to update/ or reexplore topics as things change, in a way that allows older items to be phased out and newer items to be in the top 5.

Hi all!

Thanks for your suggestions and feedback. We've made note of all of these points and have been working on them. Some will be fixed in the upcoming release of the site (early next week). Others have been addressed at on a planning level and are in the subsequent build.

Please keep adding items as you think of them. We're doing all we can to make this you favourite website! :-)

Cheers,

Eric (the bald one)

I didn't really defend anything there did i?

i see that the "add limit" has gained popularity. But I think that's a bad move, personally, so I'd like to defend my idea and offer a suggestion as alternative.

I think, the problem with topic additions isnt the amount of them, its the points associated with them. I think limiting them would maybe reduce people's involvement, a better solution might be to limit the amount of topics a person can get points for each day. I'm not sure that would work either though, given that might mean people wait to post to get points, or who knows. I guess I just dont like the idea of limiting things because of people who take advantage of the system.

two more things : a place to see what topics a user started, not just voted on. and, is there a way to make the login compatible with Firefox's autosaving feature? It seems like the Ajax is preventing that, but i dunno.

For topics with 25+ choices: dynamic navigation? ...can you try having the "link to topic page", "see what others think", "watch this topic", etc., be strewn through the pages (not just at top left, but also towards the bottom of the pages ...)..

I wonder if main topic image can be a looped .swf file ..? Or, animated .gif?

I agree with the video features, daily topic add limit, and quotes.

What about displaying the voters on main topic page in area where one of the big box ads are now..?

Usage timer: so you can see how long youve been sitting on the site making and voting on lists. "What? Its been 72 hours straight!?"
