With all that's going on in technology, it's great to have a site or two to keep you up to date. Which are your favourites? ( Edited by karj )

Techcrunch

I read this one on my PDA almost every morning, on the way in to the office. Sometimes it feels a little overly VC-focused, but most of the time I learn a great deal about activity in the industry, and those developments just about to happen.

Wired

I love the fact that Wired looks at how technology affects culture. It seems like the most compelling vantage-point, as it allows the reader to contextualize some of these advancements, and consider how they will impact our real lives.

Engadget

I only visit the site on the rare occasion, but when I do, the nerd in me is set free to look at all of the neat, shiny things that they are making. It's pure geekdom.

CNET

I think CNET really has the best product reviews out there. They are thorough, and allow you to easily compare your options. Frankly, I'm not that interested in reading every review out there. CNET gives me a quick way to get some insight and make a decision

Yeah, that's certainly odd. I'll take a look and see what's going on with this one.
The ranking algorithm is actually pretty complex, and takes into account the number of votes for each item, what position those votes are in, when the votes were made, number of comments, etc...

I wonder how it works that the person with one choice outweighs the other 5 voters? Maybe you don't want to explain the algorithms or anything, but it seems like CNET and others should be higher, but i guess its a mix of rank + quantity of those ranks? so the more #1's instead of just the most votes?
