The rules

The MakeFive “What do you know?” Contest is intended as a way to reward those members who share interesting and thoughtful dialogue with others in the MakeFive Community. The Contest rules are straight-forward and based on common sense; additionally, as this is our first try at this sort of thing, the rules might change from time to time.

Don’t try to “fake-out” the system
It’s easy to collect points by creating junk content; however, that’s of little use to anyone. As such, those found doing so will lose all of their points. (Sorry, but we have to keep things fair.)

The contest is monthly
All users collect cumulative points, which will later be utilized in larger contests; however, the monthly contests are based solely on points accrued during the month of the contest. We think this levels the playing-field a little. If you are curious, you can take a look at who’s currently winning, those who have high-all time scores or the winners of the contest.

Point values
The current points have been weighted to attribute accurate importance to those who help make the site more interesting, but generating interesting content and opinions. We do, however, acknowledge that other actions may demand points as well, or be mis-weighted. Should this be the case, we will change the points retroactively to reference this. We acknowledge that this may skew rankings, but we feel this is important as we work to make the contest as enjoyable as possible.
